Do you have evidence that Venezuela isn't doing it? For example, José Antonio Ibarra (the man who killed Georgia nursing student Laken Riley) and his brother are both members of the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua.  Let’s just say your post is correct.. I’m not taking my time to verify. So your logic is because you found one example, that means Venezuela is dumping their prisons and mental institutions upon the US. Some will be granted asylum and some will be sent back. The problem is our asylum system is overwhelmed. (in case you guys are interested identifying real problems not lies from Trump) Now Trump’s solution was to force everyone to stay in Mexico by executive order, including legitimate asylum seekers. This is not only inhumane as that exposes legitimate asylum seekers to be exposed for months or years to Mexican cartels, but was ruled illegal by a court of appeals and was headed to the Supreme Court. So recognizing we had a major problem, the Senate created a bipartisan bill to fix the asylum system, it was headed for easy passage when Trump killed it. Trump wants to keep the problem for purely political purposes. |

Just moving from one top ![]() ic to the next incoherently, sometimes I didn’t even know what he is talking about. Did you know this? Venezuela is reporting a 72% drop in crime, because all their prisons and mental institutions have been emptied into the United States. And kids cannot play little league baseball anymore because migrants are camping in the outfield. Maybe he should have plead not guilty by reason of insanity. By the way, Fox News said this was supposed to be a news conference, but he took no questions. I couldn't get through it. Most of it was incomprehensible. And they want to talk about Biden? If they crossed another countries border to get from Venezuela to the US, they are not legitimate asylum seekers. You aren't the judge of that. It's not up to you who is or isn't an asylum seeker. You're observing from the bleachers. Let professionals do their jobs. |

Most people are running from trouble. Even those that aren't are not necessarily coming over the border but rather showing up at the border. Then they are in limbo, faced with the backlog and not enough judges to actually get in. If you watch John Oliver, he did a little piece on immigration and he actually has first hand knowledge. He went on to say it took lawyers and I think it was about 8 years before he became a citizen, along with thousands of dollars. How many people coming from South America on foot have that kind of time and resources? BTW if you haven't watched Oliver you should. He really lays bare many subjects and I've learned a lot from the show. We're not talking about an invading army here. These are families, sometimes even children with no escort. Fox and right wing media would have you believe they're Satanist's come to get your wives and daughters. While I'm sure there's a criminal element, as there is in everything, you're actually less likely to suffer at the hands of an immigrant than you are a citizen. They will of course take examples like Laken Riley and plaster them everywhere for shock value and to rile up anti-immigrant sentiment. Same thing happened in England with Brexit. You can see how that turned out. It cost them billions and now they want to join back in with the EU. It's just not as simple as "Immigrant Evil!" |

Once the secret deal was exposed, it was overwhelmingly defeated by the majority of the Senate and the House. There's nothing inhumane in making illegal immigrants stay in Mexico while there fake economic asylum appeals work through the system. Alternatively, the better solution is for the millions of illegal immigrant invaders to stay in their home lands of Pakistan, Jordan, Venezuela, China, and the other multitude of nations they are coming from (most are not from Mexico -- they are only passing through it) and apply to emigrate LEGALLY. |

I see 3Swallows is clinging to that crappy Senate bill when there is a House bill that actually addresses the issues in a real way.
I had a discussion with 3Swallows about this on the PD board and his excuse for why the Senate did not take up the House bill was because the Dems run the Senate and to bad to sad.
By international law asylum seekers are supposed to STOP at the first country they would be safe at. There are multiple countries between Venezuela and the U.S.A where they would be safe.
