Whenever someone does something in Congress, they only need to realize that elections matter and what they put in place can be used against them when the other party gets control. But the idea that this 'institution' can be eliminated at any time by a simple majority is stupid. Let's either put it in the Constitution to protect it or eliminate it. |

But the idea that this 'institution' can be eliminated at any time by a simple majority is stupid. Let's either put it in the Constitution to protect it or eliminate it. I think it is an important tool for the minority party to defend against extreme ideas. If the idea is a good one, it will be passed. If the filibuster is improperly used, the minority Senators in purple states will lose their jobs. But I agree with your suggestion. We probably need to do a refresh on the Constitution anyway. |
