www.usatoday.com/story/money/2024/10/02/x-valuation-down-fidelity/75481287007/The valuation of social media platform X has dropped dramatically in the eyes of major investment firm Fidelity, according to multiple reports. The market value of Fidelity Blue Chip Growth Fund's shares in the private company is estimated at $4.2 million, according to a monthly report released Sunday. That's 79% less than the fund's estimate of its shares in October 2022 when Elon Musk took over Twitter, which were valued at $19.66 million. Applying the shares' relative decline to the total value of X when it was purchased would indicate a $9.4 billion overall valuation, a steep drop from the $44 billion that Musk paid in the acquisition. How do you put a value on saving free speech? Because when the government can call up a platform and 'strongly suggest' that you block this user or that user - and you do it - that's not free speech. We don't have the 1st Amendment to protect popular speech or government speech because they don't need it. We have the 1st Amendment to protect unpopular and sometimes even vile speech. Once upon a time, the ACLU sided with the American NAZI Party's right to march in Skokie, Il and took it all the way to the Supreme Court, where they won. Do you really think they'd defend free speech to that extent in today's toxic environment? They should but we both know they wouldn't. The free market of ideas should ultimately decide which have merit - not government bureaucrats.

Also from that article: “Other companies may value their shares in X differently.” Weird that you left that out. Not weird at all. He only copied and pasted that which he through was relevant, not giving a shit that others may be interested in facts!

Maybe they can just walk across the street to the DNC. If I had to guess, they're probably not hiring and may be getting prepped for a layoff of their own.

3Swallows has had hatred of Elon for a time now. Is there anyone on the right that he doesn't hate? The irony is that Elon isn't really a traditional conservative. Before the progressives took the Democrats far, far to the left, he was a center-left. Like a lot of Trump voters, he didn't leave the democrats - they left him.

They also once had Donald Trump, Tulsi Gabbard, and RFK Jr. At one time in the distant past, they even had Ronald Reagan. Anyone else see a pattern? As important as any of the above listed, they had me and my family. I know. You're all saying that me and my family are not important. Well, the hundreds of thousands of families like us who have and are changing are important. As so many are saying, "We didn't leave the party, the party left us."
