Contract keep you captive. That's what you were arguing against, being captive. No it wasnt. You never even understood my point. And contracts don't hold you captive if they are one year contracts. Or two year contracts. Yeah, because teams only want one year contracts. Those only happen in the case of older players that they think they can get another year out of. In college, not only do colleges want kids there for at least three years but four is better. These are young kids that need stability and development (i.e. education).

Familiarity and association are …..or used to be….important issues with the fan base…
They follow recruiting….hoping to get a particular kid….then they follow the players…who makes the team…who red shirts…
And then can he get on the field and supplant the starter…
Now…..fans have lost track with who is on their team…what happened to that guy? Where did this guy come from?
Who the hell is that guy? I used to be a huge fan, now I don’t even know who is on my team anymore
I’m all for the players getting compensation……but this coming and going as they please is not good for the culture

They're (mostly uneducated) kids that are following what agents are telling them and the agents are telling them to do things that are good for the agents and not the player.

Blame it on Judges, who are the ones allowing the fast moves and money being thrown at these kids. It use to be that the kids got their free ride with a college education, plus if they were elite, a chance to go pro. That was the motivation. Many of the kids com from inner cities, raised by a single mother or grandparent. They've never had money, so getting paid is not only something they are excited about, but their parent is pushing (and perhaps, sharing in the cash flow). It's no wonder that Nick Saban decided to retire. Here's an example of how money is ruining the game:

They need to just go to two year contracts or something. Four years of eligibility and two year contracts. You can't have free agency every off season that's insanity.
But the players should be paid and should be able to move around to suit them. Why not? I dont think a player should be stuck somewhere four years if he doesn't want to be there. An easy explanation why is if his coach leaves. Why can't he leave?

The purpose of college football for the young men to not only learn to play football, but also to learn to be real men and get an education. If they just are interested in money, let the NFL create a minor league system and pay high school dropouts.

For a significant percentage of the players this hasn't been true for decades man. The best players are there to skate through school and get a chance at the NFL. Sure, some do as you say. But if you think that's ever going to be what college football is actually about I'm sorry you're incorrect. And I'm not even going to agree with you that it SHOULD be about that. Many of these colleges are woke indoctrination camps anymore.

Here's the latest example college football's NIL programs being out of control:
