‘Beverly Hills Cop Axel F’ was just released on Netflix Wednesday, July 3rd, and if you’re a fan of the old Beverly Hills Cop movies, I do think you’ll really enjoy this one, too.
Disclaimer: If you liked the movies and want to watch this movie, I’d recommend skipping the Trailer.
The trailer is great. I initially saw it on Netflix a week before watching the movie, but there are some scenes that I knew ahead and my wife hadn’t, making her reaction more enthusiastic and natural.
It didn’t take away from the movie, per se, but knowing in hindsight an Axel’s impulsive reactions to solve a problem because it appeared in the trailer, loses its luster a bit. That doesn’t mean the scene was bad, just reaction was more subdued. I even recalled thinking “I wish they’d of left that out of the trailer.”
I don’t honestly want to reveal a whole or about it. If you are a fan, I think you’ll enjoy it and be happy you watched it. If you’re a film critic, you’ll probably point out something about memberberries, obvious camera tricks, and some cheap CGI effects, but it’s a buddy-cop Netflix action movie with a 50 year old Eddie Murphy. You’re kind of just excited to see him as Axel Foley again and it’s not a mega-budget blockbuster.

I enjoyed it. Just a fun, don’t think too much, throw back to the 80s. It’s also cool the entire cast was back on board.
Spoiler (kinda):
The golf scene, was that supposed to be Shooter McGavin, or was it just a nod to the character? I like to think it was him and Happy is in the same universe.

My literal first thought was Shooter McGavin, too. I looked up the cast & crew and he’s simply identified as “Golfer.” It may not be Shooter, but I think it was meant as an Easter Egg for those SNL fans. Also… Wait, Is Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F Set In The Same Universe As This Classic Adam Sandler Movie? This poses the idea Netflix did this to excite fans for the Happy Gilmore sequel
