The Cardinals are playing good, steady ball, and have a decent schedule for the next month or so. The critical stretch will come in the second half of August. Starting on August 16:
3 at home against 1st place Dodgers
(open date)
3 at home against 1st place Brewers
3 at 2nd place Twins
4 at home against 2nd place Padres
3 at 2nd place Yankees
3 at 1st place Brewers
(open date)
3 at home against 1st place Mariners
That takes us up Monday, September 9, with only three weeks remaining.
22 straight against 1st or 2nd place clubs, 13 of which are at Busch, over 24 days. We could be gearing up for a great pennant race this season. Whouda thunk it?
By the way, of the final 19 games, only the 1st place Indians Guardians (weekend series at Busch) have a winning record.

I feel like the Brewers are incredibly vulnerable with tons of Strike-Outs just littering their lineup. While the Cardinals aren’t exactly a Strike Out staff, they also aren’t putting guys on base nor giving up big hits, either. This gives me some reason for optimism when facing the Brewers. Keep the bal in the Parker and get to the Brewers less-than-stellar pitching staff.

The pitching has outperformed, and will become a liability the further the season progresses,if moe makes any trades they will not help

Four weeks until we enter the crucible. I hope we can close the gap with the Brewers by then.

Four weeks until we enter the crucible. I hope we can close the gap with the Brewers by then. We’ll need to, because all the teams in contention require Pitching, and they all have a lot more money and deeper systems to play with. A team like the Mets comes to mind. It’s very possible our only way into the playoffs is by winning the NL Central

You set up what could be an exciting end of the season -- or, a dogs of summer collapse when the Cardinals lose to the best. Of course, the key to getting into -- AND ADVANCING IN -- post season play will be pitching. Besides the players excelling, the key question is: Will DeWitt open up DeWallet so that fans can see a winning team?? I hope your prediction is true...

Got a better shot at it now after acquiring last year's Choi Dong Award winner. Pallante better pitch well tonight or he could be odd man out. I think I'd send MM to the bullpen but the contract might play.

The Cardinals are approaching this crucible of a schedule like a finely tuned engine - a 2-cycle lawn-mower engine. I hope we are in for some surprises or it's going to be a long September.

HOPEFULLY, we’re seeing a breakout party from Victor Scott. He had a nice game yesterday and CF is one of the more obvious positions we could upgrade internally. Add Jordan Walker’s current Hot Streak to the mix, and we really could see desperately needed impact bats joining the lineup for the stretch run. Insert better offensive upside in Victor Scott… relegate low offensive Siani Insert hot bat w/power Jordan Walker… relegate .672 OPS SO Machine Goldschmidt The biggest problem is Marmol. No doubt we could EASILY find an internal option, since a brain-damaged chimp could make better decisions... Stop batting Goldschmidt 3rd, fucktard! It’s not that fucking hard! But they just won’t. Just give him a paid trip on Starliner and let every person sitting behind the dugout have a chance. It would be a HUGE improvement. I am beginning to think swapping-in a K-Pop Star would be an improvement

The last series before Crucible Month is upon us. The Cardinals have been muddling along, 2 games under .500 since the ASB. Not good. Now is the time for those "veteran presences" that were so highly valued in the off-season to stand up and be counted, or else the Cards will be out of contention by Labor Day. Should be an interesting week!

This season's goals have been met. The goal of ownership/front office is to get into August and/or mid-August with the Cardinals being mentioned for a Wild Card Playoff Spot. That will continue until late August when the Fat Lady will have sung. Still, it will get the Cardinals close to their goal of 3 million butts in the stands.

Sonny’s 2024 season is falling off a cliff. The cardinals are 3-5 in his last 8 Starts.
Over that same span (47.1 Innings), he’s getting nuked. He’s given up 10 Homers, and opponents have a .524 SLG% against; which has blown up his ERA to a height of 5.89.
Sure, he’s still missing bats, but opponents collective OPS against is over .800 (.839); which isn’t far from leading this team (Willson Contreras .865, Burleson .774)
