So I saw some pictures of the event space for Lollapaloosa the music festival going on in Chicago's Grant park this weekend, and the whole park is absolutely packed with wall to wall people. Apparently 115,000 per day and ticket prices are insane. For the 4 day ticket that includes food and drink and access to real bathroom and crowd separate areas, tickers are $4,500 per person and that does not include hotel rooms. Lollapalooza is far from the only expensive festival, Ocean's Calling out in MD, charges over $2,500 per person for the top 3-day ticket, also not including hotel rooms. Both festivals are sold out. I can't imagine wanting to stand in crowds that big, or pay that much for the experience. www.lollapalooza.com/tickets

Yeah that's an insane amount of money to be packed in a crowd, I don't get it either. I pretty much gave up going to large concerts due to the idiots in the crowd that ruin it for everyone who actually wants to see and hear the performance. I still enjoy live music at a small club or bar where you dont have the unruly crowd problems.

Lollapalooza was the best when it was a touring festival. I went several times out at Riverport. The lineups were awesome back then. 93 especially. I wanted to go, but my parents wouldn’t let me!

The "VIP Passes" are in the $1900-2600 range (depending on if its first or second weekend), but regular tickets are still "relatively" reasonable. This was this year's prices: Ticket prices for the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival (Jazz Fest) in 2024 included: Early bird: $85 plus fees through February 29 Advance: $95 plus fees through April 24 Gate price: $105 plus fees Child ticket: $5, available at the gate only for ages 2–10, with an adult present VIP packages: Starting at $1,850

I was fortunate enough to go to this. For ‘94 unfortunately, we didn’t have Green Day. We had a Japanese band called Boredoms instead. They sucked. Beastie Boys blew the roof off the place. Then everyone was tired for Smashing Pumpkins, and Billy Corgan was being a bitch complaining people we weren’t standing up and getting into the music. He said something like this is rock ‘n’ roll. Get off your feet. It was kind of embarrassing ‘95 was also awesome. Beck killed it. Cool to see Sinead. Cypress Hill was unreal, brought a huge bong out on stage. Hole was also good. Covered Pennyroyal Tea. And ours had Coolio on the side stage.
