Kamala Harris to reveal controversial plan to bring down food prices as her first major policy... and here's what it could mean for YOUKamala Harris wants to take aim at rising food costs and price-gouging as she starts to lay out her own economic priorities and set herself apart from the Biden administration if she win the White House in November. The vice president heads to North Carolina on Friday to deliver her first address focused on the economy policy nearly a month after jumping into the presidential race with President Biden's exit. In one of her first economic proposals as Democratic presidential nominee, Harris plans to call for the first ever federal ban on corporate price-gouging, her campaign said. During her visit to Raleigh, Harris will announce her plan to enact the ban during her first 100 days in office in her effort to address grocery costs as inflation has persisted throughout much of the past four years under the Biden administration. While it is not exactly clear how the proposal would be enforced, the campaign said in its release that the plan would 'set clear rules' so corporations 'can't unfairly exploit consumers.' www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-13746879/kamala-harris-economic-plan-food-prices-2024-election.htmlShe's already in office why not now? Hard to get anything passed with a Republican House. After the election things will be more likely to get passed. No argument about the prospect of lower food prices and how that's bad for her? Did she even try to do what she is proposing? If not, why not? A strong politician works with the opposition. They don’t run from them and use them as an excuse.

Can anyone define gouging? You charge more money than people want to pay? Don't you know cost should be fluid and based on what the person wants to pay. That won't work in a world of monopolies. Dumb asses like you don't seem to understand that. Competition would be great except there isn't any. A handful of corporations control everything you buy at the store. It's time for some political action to reign in these greedy corporations. They did it to Ma Bell. They can do it to others. They may have to do something about the Supreme Court and their extremely corrupt judges first though.

Ma bell….bad example all it did was spur the cell phone industry which is completely unregulated and has increased competition………to the benefit of the consumer… the government should not be involved in the free market……but if they have to be….it should be to increase competition…..not stifle it

Harris has issued a statement today that she will set price controls on things like food. How many stores will she drive out of business? What stores will be next? Can you say Communism? Maybe they shouldn't be price gouging. You guys are funny. Bitch about how high things are and then bitch when someone wants to do something about it. I know, maybe the greedy corporations will lower their prices if we give them more tax breaks and subsidize their businesses for them. You stupid fuckers. How long have corporations been “greedy”? It’s funny how Harris and Biden blame inflation on “greedy corporations” as if they were not greedy before Biden was elected. What other excuses will you guys try to come up with?

The basics..
Companies will always maintain their margins…
If there are price controls…..and industries can not pass along overhead increases they will cut costs.
The quickest and most effective way to cut costs is labor…..so, there will be layoffs and benefits decreases…
It’s possible the company will have to reduce production……which means they will purchase less raw material…..damaging that industry…..and right on down the line
This isn’t rocket science……and it’s not a political position…
It’s just basic business fundamentals……
I am amazed…..and troubled…by how many Sugar voters don’t understand that

Soviet style price controls. Get ready to stand in a bread line comrade Or you could just leave your check at the grocery store and take your little bag of groceries home. You fucking imbecile. She's actually talking about lowering everyone's food cost and you want to vilify her for doing something good so you can suck Trump's cock. Brilliant. It's easy to spend less at the grocery store when the shelves are empty and there's nothing to buy. Be careful about throwing around the word 'imbecile' around. It's obvious that you know less than nothing about how economics works.

Telling a grocer they can't double their prices is hardly communism. Intelligent people know that unbridled capitalism is just as bad as unbridled communism. Both starve their people. There has to be regulations and guidelines for any form of govt or the people in charge will abuse them. I guess you'd be happy with 10 dollar a dozen eggs. But at least those huge conglomerate grocery corporations can reap their record profits and jack up their stock price. Meanwhile, Magat's can chant Trump's name and starve. Imbecile? Well, if the shoe fits.

Don't you get mad when at the grocery store? The pandemic is over and yet prices stay the same or rise. Someone is being bad. If Trump took over tomorrow it wouldn't change the price of bacon. Anyone who thinks otherwise is a fool. America already produces more oil than any other country and yet gas stays relatively unchanged. Why? Price fixing.

Well, if the shoe fits. Why weren’t the grocery stores raising their prices when Trump was in office? Inflation was low then. Are you seriously thinking that corporations “suddenly” got greedy….just since Biden and Harris took office?
