Except at closer. They're starting pitching sucks. Their relief pitching is average at best. Their starting lineup is full of holes and struggles to score a run or two in most games. With the exception of Winn and Burleson, nobody is above average at best. They are the very definition of mediocre. How do you fix that? Time to blow it up. Build around Winn and Burleson. Send Gorman to the minors until he gets his shit together. Way too many strikeouts to be in the majors. Get rid of Lynn, Matz, Mikolas. Replace with something above average or bring up a minor league prospect with star potential. Put Donovan at second and leave him there. Stick Victor Scott in center and leave him.Dump Crawford and Carpenter. Bring up some star minor league players to replace them and let them sink or swim at the big league level. Pitching is 80% of baseball, get some decent fucking pitching. If you're going to plan on drawing 3 million you better put something on the field. I've done conceded this year and am done with them for the year. I won't even watch them. Life is too short for that bullshit.

Jordan Walker has yet to show he’s a good OFer. Last year, he had a negative WAR despite hitting .276/.342/.445/.787 and 113 OPS+. He’s 6’-6” tall and played Third. Fit him w/a First Baseman’s glove unless he’s dramatically improved to play LF… and I mean legit, not Cardinals Propaganda bullshit.

Open the 2B competition to Donovan, Cesar Prieto, Tommy Saggese, and Wetherholt. Make it an actual competition, none of the crap the Cardinals are notorious for doing w/competitions.

Gorman isn’t exactly a platoon candidate. He stinks equally against RH & LH. Get him on an offseason program to reduce strikeouts, restore confidence, and if he’s not fixed then leave him in the Minors until he earns how to consistently make contact.

Victor Scott and Michael Siani duke it out for CF. I don’t care who emerges. If it’s close, you make sure to keep both in the organization. I know we can send Victor Scott to AAA. I don’t quite know about Siani.

It’s not great, but it’s probably making the best of the options we have.

They may sign a pitcher for around what they gave for Gray but I doubt Burnes would sign for that. Whatever pitcher they sign won't be a number 1 (anymore anyway) but they really need someone that can hit with RISP. Maybe a hitting coach could help? I'm not at all sold on Nootbaar. Siani isn't awful but has very little offense. I think he's more of a backup outfielder. Here's my plan:

Scott in Center until/if he falls down. Just way too much upside.

Rf- Same with Walker

Lf- Apparently Nootbaar(hoping he can take another step)

3b- Arrenado of course

SS- Wynn all day long and twice on Sunday( probably the best player on the field)

2B- Donovan(He's earned it and been very steady. Unless Gorman steps up and you can use Donovan as a supersub again.)

!B- Give Goldy a 2-3 year deal and let him finish as a Cardinal. Also gives him a chance at the playoffs if Cards rebound.

C- Contreras (I know defensively he botches a lot of balls but he has a cannon for an arm and is way above the others offensively)

Now Pitchers

Let Lynn and Gibson walk.

Ship Matz to whoever will take him

Sp: Gray, Pallante, Rotating cast from AAA, Libertore(sink of swim time), the messiah( Burnes, Snell or one of the other anointed ones.
