There's never been a government run economic system that works. The government can mandate that a company produce items X, Y, or Z. They can't convince the consumer to buy a product they don't want. It's too bad that Kamala never took an economics class or learned of Adam Smith's invisible hand... I know that Kamala, AOC, and Fauxahontis all believe that Socials/Marxism/Communism didn't work because it wasn't implemented properly. They firmly know that they are smarter than everyone else who tried, so it must work this time because they'll be in charge...

That's the problem with subsidies - it assumes the government knows what the winning technology will be BEFORE the race has even begun. If the government wants to guide the market, it should offer rewards for achieving very specific, pre-arranged technological goals similar to the X-Prize. But the prize needs to be available to EVERYONE and not just a select few. That's how you unleash the technical genius of American capitalism.

The future of mobility is hydrogen fuel cell. All this time and money spent on battery electric just delays the best solution.

While I think you're right about this, I STILL wouldn't want the government to subsidize hydrogen fuel cell development. Right now, it's a no brainer. Charge up in a few hours (or days for some vehicles, depending on the charger) or fuel up in 5-15 minutes... there's really no comparison. I think the fact that we could easily convert most ICE engines right now to run on hydrogen is why the government largely ignores this technology. They don't want people to keep their ICE engines. They'd rather the switch be revolutionary rather than evolutionary.

ICE engines can easlly be converted to hydrogen combustion, but the hydrogen refueling infrastructure needs to develop more. Again, the government gets in the way.
