Let's just make a law that everyone has to hire/admit people on the same level as their percentage of the population. That's what you want, right? Ok. Here we go. 60% of the NBA and NFL would be white. Half of oilfield workers would be women. Half of Hooters servers would be men. 60% of the participants in Miss Black America would be white. Half of construction workers would be women. But wait! What if women don't want to be construction workers and men don't want to be Hooters servers? Well that's too bad for them. In the name of equity, we're going to force them to take those jobs. Personal preferences have no part in the revolution. This reminds me of the military recruitment shortages year after year. Not long ago, their advertising targeted female demographics. There was no change to female enrollment numbers, but male enrollment plummeted |

I'm not sure how stupid you have to be to think there is a single college in this country that will purposefully discriminate against minorities. I agree with what you are saying, but progressives eat their own. Asian males are at the bottom of the pecking order (only above Whites), but aren't they technically (or were) called a "minority?" They were clearly discriminated because they weren't the preferred minority in college... Of course, they may be considered "White-Asians" now... I have a suggestion - you take someone who was turned away by affirmative action and YOU pay for their college, since you're so butt-hurt about it!! |

When judged on academic qualifications, fewer black students are measuring up. That's not racist - that's a fact - and it's primarily the fault of the family where academics aren't valued and the local environment where focusing on academics is denigrated as 'acting white.' Why should any student with fewer academic achievements and lower test scores have advantages over those with greater achievements and higher test scores? The real racists are those who refuse to hold everyone to the same, high standards. It's the soft bigotry of low expectations, which you possess in spades. |
