From the article:
"The bill would mandate that courts impose an enhanced sentence when suspects take, damage, or destroy property valued at over $50,000 during the commission of any felony, including retail theft."
So as long as you only steal up to $49,999, no new "tough" sentencing for you. What a joke.

If they were serious, they'd start charging these serial shoplifters under RICO statutes. Deportations and jail time might slow it down a bit too.
If thieves face no consequences, they will continue thieving!
