Patrick Mahomes, Chiefs ‘haven’t played good’ — and they’re still undefeated. Uh-oh.
The fact that Kansas City is, by its star’s own admission, struggling — and yet still winning — ought to be a hell of a warning sign to the rest of the league. If the Chiefs suffer through this rough stretch and still win games, well, a three-peat might be the least of the league’s problems with Kansas City.
The Chiefs have won three games by a total of 13 points. But the key thing in that sentence isn’t “13,” it’s “won.” The NFL right now is in chaos. Teams predicted to be Super Bowl contenders are 1-2. Teams predicted to struggle are undefeated. But the Chiefs, and Mahomes, remain the constant, the standard, the target.

Google Why are good teams are always accused of ref bias?
There is a cycle. Good teams always get complaints about being favored by the refs. You used to see it with the Patriots, the Seahawks had it for a while, and now its the Chiefs.
Note: I am not making a comment on any specific call or game. This is applicable to all teams.
Nothing is being rigged, referees make bad or no calls at roughly the same rate for every team.
The reason it always seems like good teams get tons of ref bias is based on a few things that all work together and it basically comes down to volume:
1. Good teams play more primetime games. They just get seen more often. This goes double for playoffs.
2. Good teams win more games. Questionable calls the benefit the loser are quickly forgotten or dismissed. People will also search for potential calls against the winner but not the loser.
3. Good teams keep games close. They have more impactful situations which leads to memorable calls. They are more often within 1 score late in the 4th, which is when calls are most impactful.
4. Good teams make fewer mistakes. When they do get a call in their favor, they are more likely to capitalize on it and score. Leading to complaints of 'this penalty directly led to points'. Bad teams may get a questionable call, then have to punt which makes the penalty irrelevant.
5. Good teams get more replays. More clips of a team being shown will lead to more people identifying non-calls or bad calls. Losing teams have fewer highlights.
6. Announcer bias. Similar to the previous, good teams are talked about more by the announcers. Peoples' opinions are heavily influenced by the attitude of the announcers, and announcers will talk about good teams more often and what led to their wins, including penalties.
More opportunities for controversial calls will always lead to more controversial calls. 15% of 100 is much bigger than 15% of 10
Every fan base blames the refs when there teams lose. The chiefs win 80% of their games, so opposing teams fans usually complain about the chiefs.
That and everyone wants the chiefs to lose now.
Enjoy that we are in the Era of chiefs dominance when they are the new hated NFL team.
