This won't ever happen with the Packers, I'm just saying. That is why I became a "Packer Backer." When the Rams F-ed St. Louis, I decided that the only team I could follow due to their committment to the community was the Packers. I have coached a couple of baseball players who went into the Athletic's system. Both were happy at the time since that offered a greater chance of making it to MLB due to the lower talent level of those in the system. However, the facilities and fan support at the MLB level was a real poop show. Oakland itself brought this on.

Or was it the greed of MLB and the NFL, who wanted communities to give welfare to billion dollar companies? I remember when Bill Bidwell's Cardinals played at the old Busch II stadium. When Bidwell paid to have a good team (see Don Coryell's Cardiac Cardinals era), fans would show up and sit in the cold to watch the team play. Bidwell got cheap again, and the team returned to a mediocre average to losing record team. When they lost, fans quit attending. Bidwell "Demanded" that the city/county pay for a new stadium, even though he couldn't draw 13K fans to see a losing team. The taxpayers said no, so he left. It's absurd to expect taxpayers to subsidize stadium construction for billionaires, especially with the revenue the teams make. The NFL is getting about $10 billion/year in streaming revenue, while MLB's revenue is about $11B total/year (although not all is from broadcast rights).

I tried to avoid mentioning the poltics of the area. My issue isn't a left-right, or Democrat-republican view. It's about using taxpayer dollars to help a billionaires (a single person or small ownership group) who can afford to build the stadiums on their own. DeWitt tried to play that game (including leaking stories that they'd move to East St. Louis if they didn't get government funding) when building Busch III. Ownership paid for the new stadium on their own, which is how it should be. First, we are overtaxed. Second, if tax dollars are going to be used to build something, it should be society as a whole. For example, bridges, roads, parks, schools, etc.

Visiting players are thrilled with this…
The facilities in the stadium and visiting clubhouse are very poor…..many stories of no hot water, or overflowing toilets…
Some players have said they never leave the hotel because of the crime…

They’ll be in Sacramento for the next 3 years. What do you think those facilities will look like?

Oakland the city has become a shithole. Their government is so dysfunctional they may never recover. As to the A's and the stadium issue, I attended a game there in 2012. It was May and the A's were in 2nd place, eventually winning the division. It was a beautiful East Bay spring evening, and I bought a single ticket at the ticket window, second row, lower deck, just behind third base about even where the third-baseman normally plays. Good seats, right? There were few people around me in a crowd well fewer than 10,000, for Albert Pujols and the Angels. But the enduring memory I have is finding cobwebs (COBWEBS!) in the cupholder of my seat. Cobwebs! This guy was there. Great fan! Pujols batting. Look at that crowd.
