Which countries are the two largest oil producers? My mistake. Three of the top four belong to BRICS: 1 United States 14,837,639,510 2 Saudi Arabia 12,402,761,040 3 Russia 11,262,746,200 4 China 4,905,070,874 www.worldometers.info/oil/oil-production-by-country/Pretty big mistake to make, especially when claiming that someone doesn't understand the topic in the way that you do. It seems to always come down to oil. And that is a big deal for sure. But three of the top four economies in the world by GDP do not belong to BRICS. And as noted, they have large populations. Populations that cannot be supported without Western countries buying a combination of their oil and/or labor. The major BRICS countries are far too dependent on the West. They are way more dependent on us than we are on them without a doubt. I don't even know what to think about Ethiopia, Iran, and South Africa... OK... Next I am supposed to be afraid that North Korea, Somalia, and Sudan have joined BRICS? That will be the true indication that the West has lost! Here's my main question: How do "America First" policies align with the policy of keeping the US dollar as the reserve currency of the world? "America First" doesn't send money to developing nations until all of our citizens are taken care of, right? Does anyone know why the US dollar has been the world's reserve currency since WWII?

Maybe because we kicked the shit out of the rest of the world and had the strongest economy in the world at that time. The biggest mistake the US leaders made in WW2 was not listening to Patton about Russia. He was right. Should have kicked their asses while we had the manpower and machinery in place.

Elon Musk has brought up this point before. We could have taken over the world, but we didn't. That is absolutely part of the reason why the US dollar reigns supreme and will continue to reign.

Make your point clear since it went over my head. And, FWIW, saying that you won't because you consider it to be beneath you is just a cop out. We are here for a discussion. So yes, your post whooshed right over my head. Please elaborate.

Neither of those are true anymore, it started with the US Dollar replacing the British Pound. Yes, and the economy of GB took a huge hit with the loss of the world’s reserve currency in 1944. It coincided with the explosion of the US economy in the 40s-70s, made possible with the reserve currency status from 1944 to the present. It has made it possible for the US to explode with $36 trillion in debt, while we maintained a growing economy via the reserve status. It essentially allowed us to export our inflation.

Neither of those are true anymore, it started with the US Dollar replacing the British Pound. OK. The British had dominance, with colonies all over the world. Then WWII happened and they lost their dominance, specifically to the United States and USSR. If that was your point, it didn't go over anyone's head at all. That's simply what happened. How are the British people doing since the British Pound lost its reserve status? They seem to be doing fine. They haven't resorted to eating the cats and the dogs. They remain a first world country. So, losing reserve currency status isn't going to destroy America. Their economy certainly suffered, but it didn't destroy Great Britain. This gets back to a previous post in this thread... Is America supposed to rule the roost, is that what you want? If we rule the roost, that de facto makes us the world's police. Is that an "America First" principle? If there are American people suffering a few weeks after a hurricane or any natural disaster, that should preclude us from ruling the roost. Until every homeless American citizen has a house to live in, we shouldn't be sending weapons overseas to Ukraine or Israel. Asked previously and ignored, how does an "America First" doctrine help maintain our reserve currency status?

See Moody above for details. You sound a lot like Obama and the "American's have to be taken down a notch or two" BS. Economic ruling the roost have NOTHING to do with policing the world. Those are two ideas that should NEVER of been merged. America First Doctrine works for the ECONOMIC benefit of the American citizens keeping us the reserve currency, which allows us to export inflation. What the America First Doctrine changed to under Bush the first was gun boat diplomacy which makes everyone hate you. This really is simple you either call the shots or are told what to do, at the country level that's determined by the who's currency is the reserve currency.

Moody's posts didn't tell me anything I didn't already know about why and how the British lost their reserve currency status. WWII and an overextended British Empire in combined with an emerging superpower called the USA. Correct me if I am wrong, and try to take a teacher's tone with it... First of all, the British people are fine. Second, I am a huge proponent of American Exceptionalism. I am of the belief that we should have never even considered leaving Iraq and Afghanistan up until the point they became more Americanized. Granted, it wasn't me sending my child over there, but the gains were exceeding the costs. Up until the point we gave up. I've already cited Elon Musk in this thread that America is the single country in the history of the world which could have taken whatever it wanted, but chose to not do so. The USA has been the greatest force for Good since WWII. It actually is simple... You don't get to call the shots if you retreat from your world superpower status. With that status comes responsibilities. How many notches do Americans need to take it down in order to stop making everyone hate us? ?

Oh wow I never pegged you as a war monger, but then as you said you're not sending your kids to die or get crippled. America used to do what Chinese are now doing which is buy influence and friends, we just did it with KFC, McDonalds and Jeans; now what do we export death and destruction. "How many notches do Americans need to take it down in order to stop making everyone hate us", you tell me since you sound like Obama. Sorry status and responsibilities? WTF? LOL!!!! Just how dumb are you if you think we could've "Americanized" Iraq and Afghanistan; that was nothing but spending good after bad; along with much American blood ( that you don't seem to care much about) typical chicken hawk BS

How many notches do Americans need to take it down in order to stop making everyone hate us? ? Everyone hates us for a couple of reasons.... 1) We saved the world 75 years ago 2) We are a free country (unless Sidepiece wins) 3) We are the richest, most successful country on the planet and the rest of the world is jealous of the USA.

You are ignoring a lot of things the USA Government did between 1946 and 1991 if you think we became and maintained superpower status with KFC, McDonalds, and Jeans. How naive can you be? Talk about falling for propaganda. Maybe Moody will educate you on this topic, because I doubt he shares the same beliefs of American influence between 1946 and 1991 as you do.
