I think that with or without Costner, the show has essentially run its course.
Im not as invested in these final episodes as I was for earlier seasons, now its more an interest to see how they tie everything up.
I did NOT expect they would get rid of Costner in that manner. Shows they put some thought into it.
Should be an interesting few weeks of the remaining episodes.
