I have not heard this brought up, and I hope it will be noted. During the course of the election, Climate Change (you know, the greatest threat we face), was not talked about by the media, or either campaign. Maybe a question or two, but it was mostly buried. Why?
if you Are a Dem and believe it is greatest threat (or at least second greatest after Trump), why were you not sounding the alarm?
opinion, it doesn’t resonate with voters, and since its a bogus claim is, it could be shoved to the side.

Bill Maher mused about this and wondered how the topic of Climate Change was only ever brought up by a Roast Comedian at the DNC
I don’t think it’s a bogus claim so much as it’s a stale warning to the public at large because it’s such an outsized problem that requires global cooperation.
However, we’re staring down the barrel of 2, potentially 3 major wars in Europe, the Middle East, and the Pacific. Who wants to talk about global emissions when so many areas around the globe are enduring bombings?
Also, many are completely removed from the situation. First, the message itself is poor. We’ve heard the doom and gloom for decades. There’s been fear tactics w/apocalyptic proclamations on a timeline that is either too distant in the future or has already come to pass. It’s not the most relatable, especially when it’s been hovering over our collective heads for multiple generations.
Some of these messages include overly sensationalized outcomes, that it becomes easy to disregard. It basically launched an entire B-rated entertainment genre of CGI catastrophes.
Then there’s the messengers. One of the most prominent “Climatologists” is a child… Greta Thornberg… who lacks any credibility because she’s a fucking child. First of all, she’s obnoxious. Second of all, she comes off as bratty and out of touch. Third, she offers no real solutions.
The other, more prominent messengers may even lack more credibility; which is saying something. Who the fuck cares what a celebrity thinks? These assholes are just mouthpieces who live a ‘do as I say, not as I do’ existence.
They’ll bitch about Global Warming, Carbon Emissions, Fracking, Climate Change, Renewal Energy, etc then fly in private jets, live extravagantly w/over-powered sports cars and luxurious SUV’s, invest in cryptocurrency, and hauk some of the least eco-friendly products to the masses.
Finally, the most important messenger is the Scientist themselves as messengers are struggling to identify what is Climate Change. How much is man-made, how much is the natural course of the earth’s ecosystem? What all falls under the category of climate change? Why are so many of the richest, often philanthropic people suddenly interested in building rockets and space ships? Is it already too late?
It’s this outsized Boogieman that cannot be easily explained and are even harder to solve. At one point, plastics was the savior because they can be recycled. Now plastics is the great doom bringer, because of
Puerto Rico multiple islands of plastic garbage now float in the ocean.
Last note on it, do we think we can actually solve it even w/all the world’s cooperation and reforms? The study of humanity is one of adapting and survival. Much like Father Time, the Earth is largely undefeated. There’s been several global mass-extinctions from events completely out of our control.
If we’re due for a Super Volcano to erupt, or due for a Texas-sized asteroid strike, or due for another mass climate change event that had melted ice caps, raised sea levels, devastated forests, returned the wetlands, etc, then why are we so worried about plastic in the ocean and not the plastics in our blood stream?
And that’s what’s really at the core. Are we a better society by understanding and working in harmony in our ecosystem? Absolutely! Politics does matter, just look at news from China who has such poor emissions and deals with so much smog that children represent the sun as orange because they cannot see blue skies.
Recently, China tried to showcase their aerial might w/a display of their military aircraft in the sky. Unfortunately, the people weren’t able to see the latest military aircraft because of their stealth technology, the
smog made the display nearly invisible.
That is a climate change situation we Americans have done somewhat well to regulate. So, there is a need and it’s not a hoax. However, the message is poor and the topic is stale. I just hope it doesn’t become headline news for all the wrong reasons.
