Thought there should be a running thread on government waste that will be rooted out by Elon and Vivek. Here's a good start. Will update often I suspect.

NASA staff beg Elon Musk to 'clean house' after agency spent millions of Americans' money on DEI agenda

NASA staff are calling on Elon Musk to 'clean house' as it is revealed the agency blew millions of taxpayer money on diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) programs.

Spending reports from 2020 to 2024 showed NASA awarded grants to universities and consulting firms to support 'environmental justice' and initiatives that 'embrace greater diversity and inclusive practices.'

LMI consulting received over $2 million in 2023 for NASA to 'embark on a venture to incorporate and deeply engrain diversity, inclusion, equity and accessibility in the culture and business.'

Another $3 million went to Booze Allen Hamilton in March to support NASA's 'office of diversity and equal opportunity DEI data analytic specialty,' and $ 7 million was announced last month for six 'minority-serving institutions.'

Amid these expenditures, staff have voiced concerns online about budget shortages, citing struggles with 'limited funds' due to 'wasteful spending.' Software engineer Kyle Sorensen told he hopes Musk will 'clean house.'

I think that when you get out of the business being the global police, and having perpetual wars, and instead refocus our military on protecting our country, we can slash the “defense” budget in half. It is a $824 billion dollar budget item in 2024.

That will piss off some defense contractors & their supporters, and jobs will be lost, but continued wild deficit spending is very unwise.

Had the U.S. been compensated for its involvement in military services, outside the country, we would be in a different situation. With their oil, Iraq had the capabilities to reimburse the U.S. for cost incurred. Same with Afghanistan, who has valuable mineral resources, could cover U.S. 25 years of cost.

there was that issue with Iraqi invading Kuwait, the brutal Saddam Hussein (a U.S. creation), then there's the U.S. search for Osama bin Laden. President George W. Bush demanded that the Taliban government extradite Osama bin Laden and expel al-Qaeda militants from Afghanistan. When the Taliban refused, the U.S. launched military operations to dismantle al-Qaeda and remove the Taliban from power, for the benefit of the people of Afghanistan. In the end, the U.S. screwed the pooch, on that one.

I think it was Sen Coburn of OK who used to publish a book of the most outragious taxpayer expenditures; someone else took it up since his passing.

It should serve as a minimum start for DOGE slashing.

Looks like the first agency on the chopping block is Fauxcahontas' pet Consumer Finance Protection Bureau, an untamed beast which needs to go. I'm likin' DOGE already.

It has got to go. Actually I think it is a violation of the Civil Rights Act.

A top senator is laying out 22 ways Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy can use their new agency DOGE to trim down the federal government.
