I no longer live in Imo's territory so I can't celebrate but for those of you that do have one for me. Now that both of my parents have passed I don't have much reason to travel back to Missouri so it's unlikely that I'll be eating much Imo's in the future. There is a place here (Allen, Tx) that has St Louis style pizza but it's not as good as Imo's. Still it's all I have.

Sorry, but 🤮 Like most things people have their opinions but I and many any others like Imo's or they wouldn't be celebrating their 60th anniversary. My ex-wife says I should start a franchise down here but there are a million pizza places here so it'd be a tough go. Steak n Shake's popped up here about 20 years ago but they are dwindling, part of that is the quality has diminished but also the prices have gone crazy. I go to SnS every once in a while and while I still enjoy it the cost and quality are not what they used to be. And don't get me started on the service.

I just could never come around on the Provel.

When we first moved to the area my wife brought home an Imos pizza one night and we were both not quite sure if we really liked it or not. After a couple of more tries we started to appreciate the difference, but on the rare occasions that we get pizza out, it is usually not Imos. The pizza is OK, but I think that it is way overpriced for what you get, and it wouldn't be my first choice.

Sometimes, the frozen ones from grocery stores here turn out better than delivery.

Happy Birthday, Imo's! You chased us away a long time ago with your outrageous prices and shit quality so I doubt we'll be back to celebrate with you

I was fortunate enough to only live a couple city blocks from the original on Thurman in South St. Louis when it opened. Pizza was a new thing for us, Mom was a traditional cooking housewife and the idea of bringing home dinner without cooking was revolutionary in our house.
Like so many others, I do think that the quality has gone down a bit, primarily because of the machine-made crusts. The old crusts had crispy air bubbles in them, the new crusts don’t rise like that.
And the various locations do things differently, for sure. The Crestwood location just isn’t very good. The Bg Bend/Maplewood location is still close to the original quality.

I don't know that there is a (chain) restaurant in the country that you can't say hasn't had a decrease in quality over the last 60 years. It's just the nature of economic. Especially when you have high inflation everyone is looking to cut costs to keep their product affordable.

We’d tried several times over the course of a decade, and every time we regret it. However, it does provide a good reason to knock out some chores at my parents (hanging Christmas lights, taking them down, etc)

I grew up in St. Louis and had it for the first time a few months ago. Someone once described Imo’s as it tastes like someone ate a pizza and then threw up on a cracker.

Some stores bought their sauce from Imo's directly.. That sauce didn't have meat in it, Other stores made their sauce at the store... That sauce did have meat in it. I wont say which is better, but the fact that it could be that different among the stores was a problem.
With Imo's firing a literal Imo in the past couple years in the CEO position and bringing someone from outside the family in, I think Imo;s is trying to fix the whole consistency issue.
