Til Kiwe (The Great Escape)

He was the actor who played Frick, the German officer who shot at Steve McQueen when the prisoners were coming out of the tunnel in the movie The Great Escape. In real life he was a German officer with the Afrika Korps fighting in Noth Africa during WW2. When all of the Axis forces surrendered he was shipped to a POW camp in Colorado where he made an escape by dying his uniform with brown vegetable juice. He was later caught at a train station in St. Louis when an employee noticed his odd-looking uniform.
After the war he became an actor.
