in 1958 when he was in St. Louis filming The Great St. Louis Bank Robbery the hotel would not allow him to bring in his dog so he and his dog slept in his car at night. James Garner said that McQueen lived down the street from him and for a joke would always drive by Garner's house and throw empty beer cans in his yard. One of McQueen's grade school teachers in Slater, Missouri, remembered him as a good student who always wore a baseball cap. I bet he was a Cardinals' fan. While filming the Magnificent Seven it is said that he bugged the hell out of Yul Brynner. Brynner would make a mound in the dirt in the areas where he would be filmed so he could stand to look taller and McQueen would go around erasing the mounds with his foot. He also did things to steal the scenes, like near the beginning of the movie where he and Brynner were about to ride the hearse to the cemetery and McQueen starts shaking a shotgun shell, that wasn't in the script. He didn't make much money doing The Blob movie, practically nothing. It is interesting watching The Great St. Louis Bank Robbery and seeing all the familiar sights that are still there. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Great_St._Louis_Bank_Robbery
