JMHO but Bandanas isn't top BBQ. We've eaten at Docs in Edwardsville a few times. It is really good. The same can be said of Fire and Smoke. Recently on our latest visit to Fire and Smoke, they seemed to have improved which is why I rate them with Doc's. We have been to the Columbia BBQ place once. It was pretty good but was so busy that it was hard to get decent service. I don't blame them. It seemed that they were rushed after a golf tournament. The BBQ was really good.

Thanks everyone. We normally don't go for BBQ when we're in St. Louis so I saw the article and was curious!
From everything I've heard, agree on Sugar Fire and Bandanas

Bandanas is an OK chain, but doesn’t deserve to be on the list.
Nubby’s is awesome, they have great pizza too.
Love Daile’s … especially their Reuben.
I don’t see Salt + Smoke. I really like the new one by me, and the one in the loop. I’ve seen people on FB trashing the one at BPV. I’ve always had really good food from the other locations.

BBQ debates are endless because it's a matter of personal taste, and some folks' personal tastes are less discriminating than others. Bandanas is pedestrian BBQ for those who like consistency and reliability. There's nothing wrong with that, but in no alternative universe do they belong on any meaningful Top XX list.

Let's be honest - that applies to EVERY restaurant, no matter what they serve - BBQ, Pizza, etc. I get that impression about Bandana's. I'm too damned picky about my sauce so I only do BBQ at home!

Stellar Hog is the best barbecue in the galaxy. Best place in St Louis too. So your favorite was listed! I love the place, we go at least every other week. Best brisket in town and the sandwiches utilize cheeses and other ingredients to maximize the flavors of the meats. But many just go for the meat and as Mr Chimetime shows it sure stands up for itself. And gourmet sides to go with the dinners and sandwiches. They just closed their Chesterfield location to concentrate on Leona and the West County folks are keeping it very busy. Good move, I've seen many places like Bandanas expand and quality go down, The Hog just keeps getting better.
