Trump has a history of hitting back at people when attacked, something woefully lacking in most Republicans (most Republicans apologize for controversial comments and then quit their comments). He's managed to take out two political dynasties in America -- both the Bush Family and the Clinton Family. He's been fighting the Deep State since they used Hillary's bought and paid for fake Steele Dossier, to the impeachment because Lt. Col Vindman and the CIA didn't like his Ukraine policy (see the "Perfect Phone Call"), to the fake charges of insurrection (recall Biden said that January 6th protests and questioning the election were the "the gravest threat to our democracy since the Civil War") that led to impeachment AFTER he left office, and a Deep State attack that is trying to imprison him since he's decided to run for President again. As far as Bannon, while he speaks for himself, if you actually had seen his show when he said the "Pikes on Stakes" comment was clearly a rhetorical statement about purging the bureaucracy of corrupt bureaucrats, not the literal beheading of Fauci and Wray. Do you honestly believe that if Trump had decided not to run for President in 2024 that he'd still be prosecuted by the Biden regime, including the dispatching the DOJ's #3, Matt Colangelo, to New York to work first with the NY State AG and then Manhattan DA to "Get Trump." The White House General Counsel also worked with Atlanta DA Fat Fanis to get Trump, including meetings with her staff, in her effort to imprison Trump and other Republicans. Democrat Party lawfare continues around the nation against Trump associates, including in Arizona, Nevada, and other States. Questioning the election results isn't an insurrection. Democrats routinely did it during the certification process in both George W. Bush and Donald Trump's electoral college certification process. Finally, I 100% agree with your final statement ("Hopefully, last night’s horror and the terribly close call on Trump’s life will be sobering for both sides, an inflection point after which we can engage, debate and contest our differences and aspirations with more civility and maturity. We are not enemies. At least we shouldn’t be"). We are all Americans. We should feel free to share our differences, but there is no place for political violence in American politics. We must be thinking of different Donald Trumps. The one I have in mind initiates attacks and smears and when there is pushback doubles down on the attacks. It is a persona he cultivated under the tutelage of Roy Cohn (you can add litigiousness, Trump having been involved in over 4000 lawsuits) and perfected as the self-anointed Birther-in-Chief who was still questioning Obama’s legitimacy even after the release of both the short and long form b/c. He continued the attacks against McCain and later against his Republican opponents for the 2016 nomination including mocking slurs aimed at Carly Fiorina and the wife of Ted Cruz and Cruz himself. It was simply Trump being Trump, not a response to victimization. Yes, no doubt Bannon’s repellent Fauci and Wray reference was metaphorical, just as was Kathy Griffin’s stupid severed head comedy stunt. Griffin, a comedian, was fired by CNN. Bannon, revered by the right, remains a close political confidant of Trump. And speaking of metaphors, linking Biden’s inartful “bullseye” comment - which he made on a phone call to donors - to the assassination attempt is absolutely ludicrous. But that’s the accusation many Republicans are peddling. Biden’s obvious intent was to put the focus of the campaign directly on Trump and not on hand-wringing about the Democratic nominee. It was not a suggestion Trump be shot. Does Trump have a right to be upset about the lawfare being waged against him? Yes, he does. As you may recall, I have opposed almost all of the lawsuits and prosecutions to which he has been subjected. But many of his outrageous remarks have nothing to do with the litigation, and many more predate it. Those are crude, toxic and inflammatory and completely unwarranted. Apparently, your message of "toning it down" isn't being distributed to the Democrat Party. No wonder they took Morning Joe off the air...

MSM keeps saying the Shooter was relentlessly bullied growing up, so I am guessing he was gay? Did he try and kill Trump because shitlibs told him he was going to end up in one of the camps?

The Cheetos guard should be fired (she won't quit) for simple incompetence. However, this quote (if true) shows what happens when you put DEI first -- not to mention "touchy-feely" women into positions they don't understand. The slope on the roof is nothing -- less than the average slope of an American home. There's no excuse for not putting a sniper on the roof, especially since the Secret Service Sniper team who shot the thug was on a roof with a steeper pitch. Rumors have it that Trump's team was down on normal staff because of "overtime" as well as the need to provide a security detail for "Dr." Jill.

well well well, this doesnt make the SS look good
"There was a blanket tactical channel being used. Everyone who was on that tactical channel heard it."
The local officer that confronted the Trump rally shooter radioed in to a shared police channel that there was an armed gunman on the roof prior to former President Trump being shot.
"So our officers in the area started to converge on the building. My understanding is they did a full perimeter walk of the building, weren't able to see up on the roof."
"Two of the officers went to what appeared to be the lowest point from ground to roof. One of the officers actually boosted the second officer up high enough for him to grab hold of the roof."
"When he was able to pull his head up over the roof. He did in fact see an individual on the roof with a weapon."
The local official said the shooter pointed his weapon at the officer.
"[The shooter] turned towards him. Had the barrel of his weapon pointed at the officer."
It gets more bizarre. The local official said that the officer was hanging from the roof and unable to reach for his weapon, radio, or defend himself. He then fell to the ground.
"So both the boosting officer and the officer that fell were both on the radio indicating that there was an individual on the roof that did in fact have a weapon."
The local official did not reveal the amount of time between that radio call and Donald Trump being shot.
It is still a mystery why Donald Trump was not warned and taken off stage before the assassination attempt.
If the alert of gunman on the roof went out, there is NO excuse for not removing Trump from the stage.

The entire situation smells, especially since the report that the SS was on high alert because of Iranian assassination threats.
