The Democrat convention reminds me of 1984. No, not the novel. The daily acts and pronouncements of Democrats reminds me of that. But I hear their fawning allies in the media and the progressive faithful gushing over the great, inspiring speeches from the convention floor. Victory is sure after these great speeches! This reminds me of the Democrat convention of 1984. The media, as well as the rank and file Democrats, gushed over the great speeches delivered there. You will find lists of great speeches of the 20th century include the convention speeches of Jesse Jackson, Mario Cuomo, and Geraldine Ferraro. As an example, I included three links if anyone needs to see for themselves. www.americanrhetoric.com/top100speechesall.htmlstacker.com/history/100-greatest-speeches-20th-centurynews.wisc.edu/archive/misc/speeches/Need I remind everyone that Reagon won in a landslide, capturing nearly 60% of the vote and all but 13 EC votes. The 2024 Democrats are making the same mistake the 1984 Democrats made, doubling-down and proudly professing their progressive causes. On the campaign trail, they wisely play these down. But they are out and proud in convention. This will not play well in Peoria.

Exploded the debt, got caught in corruption by using military equipment for crooked deals. Went completely senile and slept most of his second term. Helped rescind the Fairness Doctrine which gave rise to right wing talk radio thereby effectively tearing the country apart with daily propaganda. Attacked unions. Too many other things to even list. Yeah, he was a real swell guy. This time Republicans know their goose is cooked. Democrats are going to roll over them like a tsunami in November. LOL

This entire "President of Joy" tripe brings a chill down my spine.
They couldn't have tried harder to reflect the core premise in "Brave New World". It's like the DNC is being branded as "your central dispensary of Soma".
We are living in a dystopian cosplay.

Years ago, we had a VP that mentioned that even the worst failure of a project can result in a lesson. After suffering through her horrible speech, that lesson demonstrates why doctors say don't mix Xanax with wine. I bet that CNN and MSDNC will praise it as the "best ever" and "she did what she had to do..."

The best Kamala could do was 25 mins? 8 of her talking about her being a 'fighter' and 14 of blatant lies about Trump and zero mins talking about any actual policy. She managed to be even more vague than every Obama speech.

But….didn't she give up in the 2020 primaries?

We can only help it turns out the same way, 40 years later.

You mean like ripping children from their mothers arms? Is that the dystopian you were talking about?
