To be clear: I’m in the camp that the DOJ is corrupted and needs a clean up; especially at the senior levels of the FBI. But Matt Gaetz is not the answer. At best the guy is a loose cannon. At worst, his personal behavior if not illegal, is certainly not, IMO, beyond reproach. The only way I can make sense of this that Trump empathizes with him for what he considers legal witch hunts against him and his role in getting Mike Johnson elected Speaker. But the guys has way too much baggage for the job and has little to no chance to be confirmed. I knew Trump would have his missteps. I hope he corrects quickly from this one. He won’t be the first POTUS to have to move on from a nominee and still succeed as POTUS. PS - I’m certain I would have liked Harris AG nominee even less. He was correct on the corruption of the DOJ during their multiple witch hunts, not only of President Trump but also of how the DOJ went after the Joke 6 protesters (the DOJ set a quota of indicting 2K before the regime ends), going after parents protesting their daughters being raped by skirt wearing boys, persecuting old ladies and men protecting their children while peacefully praying outside abortion clinics, not to mention the DOJ/FBI targeting Catholics going to Latin Mass. Heck, the FBI even seized Mike the Pillow Guy's phone while he was in a fast food line. Both the DOJ and FBI are corrupt. I understand both you and lighthouse aren't fans of Gaetz, but remember there are assistant Attorney Generals responsible for the various divisions that actually run the Justice Department. Gates primary focus will be on weeding out the radical leftist that have infiltrated the DOJ and FBI, purging those who are committing lawfare. The Assistant US Attorney for DC is coddling car jackers and violent criminals, focusing on his political retribution. SDNY needs to be purged of political activist. It's no wonder the DOJ lawyers are freaking out!

Gaetz was raised middle class, and they had a very nice lawn while he was growing up. He worked at McDonald's in college, and his whole career has been aimed at prosecuting drug lords and the cartels.

It's time to do a clean sweep of the DOJ from top to bottom. Directors, lawyers, prosecutors, included.

He needs an outsider and an absolutist in Justice. The place needs series deep reform, not just trimming around the edges, complete reform. Is there another candidate for AG who has done as much investigation into justice corruption? Is there antoher AG candidate who was subject to a corrupt justice investigation? Surely there are several reform-minded people with solid backgrounds in law enforcement from outside DC. Gaetz is just a hand-grenade tossed into a cocktail party. And again, I see zero chance that he gets confirmed. I could be wrong. It wouldn't be the first time I've been wrong about subjects related to Trump. Sure there are; who are they? Sure, he's a hand grenade, so what? Its what is needed at Justice; we cant simply change management and let the corruption stay. and you heard Pres Trump yelling alot about recess apointments; this is why. a recess appointment is only good until the next congress, 2 years.

I wonder how willing the Senate will be to agree to recess appointments, given the nature of a couple of these nominees. But if it gives them a pass, through to the midterms, maybe he can pull it off. If Trump is successful and Gaetz does end up cleaning the snakepit that is the DOJ of the reptiles that inhabit it, I will be happy to be wrong. We shall see.

Trump clown show stating. Jumping in the clown car are: Some crazy Fox News commentator for Secretary of Defense.Russia’s favorite politician Tulsi Gabbard for Director of Intelligence And now the biggest clown in Washington Matt Gaetz who even most Republicans hate. My son-in-law texting me that one, and I thought it was a joke. Stop being a Democratic dick! He's a military vet with 2 bronze stars and years of experience

Tulsi Gabbard is the next Director of National Intelligence, with the CIA and all of the intelligence agencies reporting to her. Another great move against the Deep State -- and likely confirmation that Trump is going to keep his promise on declassification of the JFK assassination (Finally!) and other records. a few weeks ago, the "intel community" put her on a TSA watch list. Soon she will be their boss Karma be a bitch!

Sam Brinton had a role in the Department of Energy’s Office of Nuclear Energy under Biden, and people are complaining about Pete Hegseth???

But if it gives them a pass, through to the midterms, maybe he can pull it off. there is speculation and legal discussions going on about whether the President can put both houses in recess then do recess appointments. The Constitution says he can adjourn congress under certain circumstances. Guess we'll find out. and unless I'm wrong, even during a recess apt, a confirmation hearing can be held and the nomination rejected. ccommie dems simply cant be allowed to drag out the confirmation process as long as last time.

Bolton has to be the worst person ever allowed into the White House. If Bolton thinks Gaetz is a bad choice, then you know Trump was correct!

Great I salute his service, but running the largest bureaucracy in the country he should have more leadership experience, he was a Major an O-4. A qualified candidate would have been a general or admiral or higher up in defense department or a Senator for a number of years. I have a close relative who is an O-6 and given his leadership roles is more qualified than this guy.
